Which of These 10 Values Do You Bring to the Table

When I was in a previous job, someone asked me this question, โ€œIf you left this job, what is the ONE thing they would miss about you?โ€ I must say, I went on a rampage trying to defend how I

provided all-round value. But they insisted on the ONE thing that was my super-strength. It got me thinking about whether I knew my capabilities well enough to convincingly highlight just one and elaborate on it.

It is not to say we should not be well-rounded; we should absolutely strive to develop multiple strengths. This is simply a reminder that we need to take time to introspect and understand our value. Without a clear knowledge of our contribution to the company goals, it is very easy for self- doubt to creep in, especially in the face of corporate politics. If you have been working long enough, you must have come across company politics.

If you are currently not sure of what you personally bring to the corporate table, the list below can be a guide to help you get started on your introspection journey.

Note to self – the first person you need to convince that you deserve your seat at the table is yourself. When God gives you a seat in a particular place, it is for His purpose. Remain humble and depend on Him for you to accomplish great things while on that seat.

1 Peter 5:6 (NIV) Humble yourselves, therefore, under Godโ€™s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.
